About Rain Water Harvesting:
Rain water harvesting is the accumulation and deposition of rainwater for reuse before it reaches the aquifer. Uses include water for garden, water for livestock, water for irrigation, and indoor heating for houses etc. In many places the water collected is just redirected to a deep pit with percolation. The harvested water can be used as drinking water as well as for storage and other purpose like irrigation.

What is Rain Water Harvesting?
Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) is a technique of collection and storage of rainwater into natural reservoirs or tanks, or the infiltration of surface water into subsurface aquifers (before it is lost as surface runoff). One method of rainwater harvesting is rooftop harvesting.
It simply means catching and holding rain where it falls and using it. You can store it in tanks or you can use it to recharge groundwater. Rainwater harvesting, is a process that involves collecting rainwater and increasing its value by eliminating impurities or directing it to places where its use is highly required. It’s a practice that has been around for a long time. The only difference is that now better methods have been developed to make the process a great success. New technologies have come into play and are now making the process easier and more efficient.


Advantages of Rainwater Harvesting:
1. Water For Domestic Use: Rainwater harvesting is beneficial because it provides a source of water for domestic use. The collected water can be used for house cleaning purposes, washing laundry and for cooking. When treated, rainwater is good for drinking. It is an easy way of obtaining water for use in the home.
2. Water For Industrial Use: Industries can also harvest rainwater for use in some of their processes. Rainwater meant for industrial use is normally harvested in large scale. Such companies can construct their own dams or have underground tanks to store rainwater.

Supplementary Water Source with improved Water Quality/ less impurities: Many areas experience water shortages during summer due to lack of rain, high rate of evaporation and ground water level goes down. When rainwater is directed to farms through trenches or collected in dams, its movement is controlled. This prevents the accumulation of water in one area, something that often causes flooding. Rivers can also overflow and cause flooding in the adjacent areas. The negative impacts of floods are too many and costly. Harvesting rainwater is, therefore, an effective way of reducing the impacts of this natural disaster.

Surface Mounted/ Run Off Rain Water Harvesting with Filtration: Surface run off harvesting is most suitable in urban areas. Here rain water flows away as surface run off and can be stored for future use. Surface runoff rain water in ponds, tanks and reservoirs built for this purpose. This can provide water for farming, for cattle and also for general domestic use. Without sufficient water health and hygiene are severely affected. This adds to the environmental pollution.
Surface water can be stored by redirecting the flow of small creeks and streams into reservoirs on the surface or underground.


Roof top rain water harvesting with underground recharge: Harvesting rainwater from roof-tops is an easy and eco-friendly method of augmenting household-level water availability. Roof-top rainwater harvesting (RRWH) involves diverting and recharging (or) storing part of the rainwater that falls on the roof of a house. RRWH for recharging groundwater is a common practice implemented in individual houses as well as apartment complexes.
In such cases, harvested water is directed into a recharge pit which collects and slowly recharges into the groundwater storage / aquifer in that area. But, storing the rainwater and directly using it is also a feasible option for those who want to directly benefit from augmented water availability.
* Roof top water harvesting can be done in individual homes or in schools.
* For this the first requirement is to intercept the rainwater to flow towards a definite direction.
* The water should reach a bucket or a tank through pipes made from wood or bamboo. In urban areas pvc pipes can be used.
* The rain water can be directly collected by keeping a bucket or container beneath the roof.
* The first flow of rain water will usually carry with it dust particles, leaves, insects and bird droppings. So it is best to use a detachable downpipe to divert the first rain water.
* Recharge pits can be constructed to hold rain water. These can be of any shape or size, depending upon the amount of rain the area receives. These pits need to be filled with, boulders, gravels and coarse sand, filtration media which will act as a filter for the impurities that are carried along with the first flow of water.


ROOF TOP AND SURFACE RAIN WATER HARVESTING AND RECHARGING SYSTEM THROUGH INJECTION WELL: * An injection well is a device that places fluid deep underground into porous rock formations, such as sandstone or limestone, or into or below the shallow soil layer.
* Artificial recharge of ground water by well injection for storage and recovery has proven to be a viable means of water management.
* Recently the option of refilling natural aquifers with injection or percolation has become more important, particularly in the driest region of the world.
* Surface runoff can also be recharged into dry wells, or simply barren wells that have been modified to functions as cisterns.
* These hybrid storm water management systems, called recharge wells, have the advantage of aquifer recharge and instantaneous supply of potable water at the same time.
* They can utilize existing infrastructure and require very little effort for the modification and operation.
* The activation can be as simple as inserting a specially designed perforated uPVC Pipe into the well shaft. Vertical pipes for conduction of the overflow to the bottom can enhance performance. The area around the well acts as funnel. If this area is maintained well the water will require little purification before it enters the cistern


DRY / DEFUNCT BORE WELL RECHARGE: We can recharge a dry bore well by either Direct or Indirect Method:
* Direct recharge: Recommended only if the bore well has gone dry or is yielding a negligible amount of water.
* Indirect recharge: For well functioning bore wells we recommend indirect recharge.
* Roof top rain water can be harvested through existing tube wells. In areas where the aquifer that holds the ground water has dried up, tube wells source deeper into the soil for water. Roof top rain water harvesting can be done through these dried up tube wells to rehydrate the dried subsoil water level.
* The level of water-output is improved: When bore wells are recharged using the technology, the level of water gets increased. It works even for the completely dried up bore wells if proper management is done while harvesting the rain water. It is a fully tested mechanism that involves simple steps.
* Quality of water is enhanced: Using naturally filtered rain water results in the naturally purifying the water collected in the ground water tables. The impurities, hardness and presence of toxic substances including fluorides are reduced with time. So, the quality of water is enhanced.
* Affordable product: As compared to the other solutions of water harvesting, bore well recharge technique is cheap and affordable. To set up a bore well recharge, it requires natural materials available locally and hence it can be done at a very low cost.
* Permanent solution: When a bore well is recharged, it will never dry up. With each year of usage the underground water tables will refill themselves with the rain water and the bore well will be up and working permanently.

Off-grid Solar Power Plant: It is a stand-alone or off-grid system, uses battery power storage to provide back-up during hours of darkness, power outages or during high demand. Energy control plays a key role when it comes to an off-grid energy supply.

When your solar system is not in use, and if you have drained the usable power in your batteries your appliances will then start drawing power from the grid.
